After Yahweh finished creating all things, He rested on the seventh day. In Genesis 2:1-3 we read, "Thus the heavens and earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day Yahweh
ended His work which He had
made and He rested on the
seventh day from all the work
which He had made. And
Yahweh blessed the seventh
day and sanctified it because
that in it He had rested from all His work which Yahweh created and made." So we
see from these scriptures that the
seventh day was special right
from the very beginning.
In our modern world, the seventh
day is called Saturday. It is a
time to rest from our work, and to
gather together for worship.
Yahweh's days begin and end at
sundown, so the Sabbath
actually begins Friday evening and does not end until Saturday evening. The Sabbath
is to be a delight and we are not to do our own pleasure. It is the perfect time to read
scriptures with our families.
Yahweh gave us the Sabbath for
our benefit. Eveyone needs a
day of rest in this busy world.
School and work can take up
most of our time during the week
and the Sabbath is a great
time of refreshing for weary
people. It is a time to re-connect with Yahweh. Let us all
keep the Sabbath with great
joy!
