The book of 1st Corinthians contains beautiful words about love! It was written at a time that Paul was feeling sad because the Corinthians were boasting about what they could do. They indeed had great abilities, but Paul wanted them to remember the more important things, like having proper love.
Paul even went so far as to say that without love, they had nothing! Even offering themselves as a burnt offering would mean nothing without love. Here is what Paul said:
“Love is patient, love is kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud. Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not become angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it. Love is not happy with evil, but is happy with truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. Three things will last forever: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
What about you? Do you ever brag? Are there times that you are easily angered? If so, you need to work to remove those qualities that Paul warned about, so that you, too, can have the proper kind of love.
