Hannah's Promise

During the time of the judges, there was a woman named Hannah. She was unable to give birth to children, but desperately wanted a baby of her own!

So Hannah went to the temple to pray. She prayed with all her might before Yahweh, “If You will give me a son, I will give him back to You , to serve You all his life!” The priest, Eli, who was serving at the temple, saw Hannah’ lips moving as she prayed silently and he mistakenly believed she had been drinking too much wine! Once Hannah explained her situation, to Eli, he gave her his blessing.

Hannah felt so much better after praying, and she left the temple with peace in her heart. And Yahweh answered Hannah’s prayer. In time, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, whom she named Samuel. And Hannah kept her promise to Yahweh. When Samuel was old enough, he was brought to the temple to serve Yahweh. Hannah even made her little boy a special little coat every year.

The most important thing we can learn from this is that we must always keep our promises to Yahweh, just like Hannah did. Because of her faithfulness in keeping her vow, Yahweh blessed Hannah with five more children to love!

SCRIPTURE TO REMEMBER:

1 SAMUEL 1:20
